(Don’t worry, no spoilers)

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is finally here. Critics have mixed opinions. Personally, I loved it. I laughed, I cried. I was on the edge of my seat at moments and barely peeking through my fingers at others. There was just a hint of romance, but it didn’t distract from the plot. All of the side stories weren’t too scattered, and everything came together with lots of twists and turns along the way. All of the main characters were multi-faceted, and none were over-the-top caricatures, I’m even pretty certain Newt has Aspergers. All ended well, but plenty went wrong along the way, without all the ex machina of most movies. Overall, it was very genuine and realistic, well, except for the part where they had magic. I could go on and on. But that’s not what we are here to talk about.

There was one scene that pushed this movie over the edge to “best action movie of all time” in my book. You see, I can almost never sit through all these superhero movies and alien movies and end of the world movies, no matter how good the plot is, because throughout every “totally awesome” fight scene, I just scream at the screen “WHO’S GOING TO CLEAN UP THAT MESS?” Seriously, I cannot handle the destruction. Do the Avengers get out there after the fact and put the city back together? I doubt it. Rude, Avengers. Up until this point, Antman has been my favorite, because all of the destruction happens on a tiny scale. What seems like an epic fight actually results in a toy train falling over. When they do destroy an entire building, it implodes into nothingness, leaving no awful rubble to clean up. But the beauty of the wizarding universe is that not only does everyone have magic, but they are also living in secret, so naturally they want to leave no trace of everything that has happened. So once the big fight is over and the problem is resolved, there is a beautiful scene that every movie ought to have—all of the heroes go around the city tidying up. Now that’s a movie that little ol’ obsessive compulsive me could watch over and over.
