I’m sure we have all seen the custom created items people are creating online. From wood cutting to 3d prints there are a lot of people creating custom or unique items out there and it has made the world a little less drab. With that said, there are a lot of devices with redundancy for laser and printing DIY things. This is why the new device from X-Tool is so important, It’s different!
There are still a lot of unknowns when it comes to the device X-Tool is coming out with. I can’t tell you the name, pricing, exact material it is using to do the job, but I can show you what it can do.

Start off with your material. Plastic, metal glass etc.
The device will put thin layers of UV curable material down just like a printer with the same quality as a photo printer.

Picture “printed” on metal
It can handle 3D objects and even the X-Tool Rotary attachment inside.

Not a lot printed but the rotary tool can move in a full circle

Print side-by-side of a 3D object

After each side is printed, you’ll get a full edge-to-edge printed cube
That’s all well and good, but there is more. Want your pictures to come to life?
Want to combine multiple X-Tools to create something even more special. What is you were to cut out some MDF and wanted to make it a little more than just, wood colored?

This is MDF with layers of the UV compound making it a textured picture

Another example of MDF with layers of the UV compound making it a textured picture
I’m not one to make prints like this and put them on my wall, but I am thinking about all of the things this will be able to do. After cutting my MDF into a deck box or table top terrain and then putting a textured dragon print on every side of the box or making the terrain look battle torn with color explosion etc. without having to paint it is a very exciting future for me.
As I said in the beginning, there is still a lot to be known about the UV printer but as we learn more or get a chance to use one on our own we will keep you up-to-date.
