Music has evolved in my life to the point where it no longer just enjoyed during my downtime. Back when music was meant for isolation sessions or simply a way to pass the time when traveling, having my earbuds deep in my ear canal as close to my brain as possible was preferable. That way I could block out the world. However, with my line of work, it’s important to be able to hear what’s going on around me. So for a few years it was either go without or annoy anyone else within range with the tunes I selected. Until I got my own pair of over-the-ear speaker phones. Suddenly I was able to listen to whatever I wanted, wherever, and still be able to hear my surroundings.
With a new-to-me concept I was surprised with how much I’ve grown to like and prefer the nwm MBE001 Wireless On Ear Speakers. I’ve easily put over one thousand hours into this specific pair of headphones and I take it with me everywhere I go. In addition to easily hearing your surroundings, the shape is easy to place on and off as well being nearly unmoving, and it also keeps the sound quality.
“If you need me, throw something at me to get my attention” used to be a common thing I said to my boss at our worksite. Earbuds would block out the rest of the sound around me but now I’m able to hear things outside of my music in real time without feeling like I’m sacrificing sound quality. The nwm MBE001 gives me the freedom to connect with the world around me while enjoying whatever music I feel like. Is it a requirement to hear further than your music? Not really! The MBE001 still gets loud enough that you can choose to limit the amount of background noise that creeps through. As someone who damaged a lot of their hearing through loud music it feels like having the speaker removed from your ear canal, even a little bit, doesn’t diminish the enjoyment while making it safer for your ears.
The shape of the MBE001 Wireless On Ear Speakers is also a plus. They fit SO comfortably that I will forget I have them on for hours at a time. Sometimes I’ll slip them on with the intention of playing music but for whatever reason get distracted. Oftentimes a long stretch of time will pass before I realize or remember that I’m wearing them. However, after about 5 to 6 hours straight, my ears do start to take notice.
The buttons on the bottom are just as universal as other buttons, but the really cool part is the sensor they have to detect when they’ve been taken off, which will automatically pause your music so you don’t miss a single moment of your favorite song. The case they come with fits them nicely and they snap into place with the magnets they carefully placed. You can see through the top to see if your Wireless On Ear Speakers are charging or even if they’re unpaired via a tiny glowing light on each unit. Unfortunately the case does not charge or hold a charge on its own, which would be a travesty if the MBE001 didn’t charge so fast! I can usually get a couple more hours out of a 20 minute charge.
A few downsides involve mostly optional features that weren’t considered like a case that charges the headphones, or simply being water-resistant. Some faults lie in incompatibility for some tasks. Are you a gymnast or like to do cartwheels in your spare time? Probably not for you. Do you spend most of your time upright not doing a bunch of crazy flips?
