In case you missed it, I’m always plugged in and ready for action. batteries are a critical part of my life and many others as well. for battery banks, there are a lot of options with pros and cons to each (read here for more on that)

Not every type of device can have a handy battery bank plugged in and run problem-free. Some devices run on good ol’ AA or AAA battery sizes. That’s where our solution comes in, Pale Blue has figured out a way to take the portable battery bank that is no heavily utilized and make it in a AA and AAA form factor. Lithium-ion batteries aren’t the newest thing for AA or AAA but pale blue isn’t using that dated technology, they are using lithium Polymer (Li-Po). This means a few things, let’s review the one at a time.

Gaming peripheral

    • We used the batteries in a wireless gaming mouse against a name-brand competitor
    • Game time. The game time varied greatly between the two.

Motorized toy car

    • The purpose of this test is you can really see the difference in battery remaining with a car that starts at 100% speed and as it slows down you can see a direct side by side of who is going faster.
    • After about 10 minutes of uninterrupted cars moving in a big circle, we started to see a difference. As guessed the Pale Blue batteries were constantly catching up to the NiMH when the car would catch up we would remove the slower car and place it back after the Pale Blue device passed by.

I don’t have a little graph for this one but it’s a pretty clear distinction of which ones kept more power for longer and the answer is Pale Blue.

Longevity

    • When we spend a lot of money on rechargeable batteries, we want to get a lot out of them. According to the web site (since I didn’t manage to test this out on each one) the NiMH batteries were good for 100+ charges with no real end number, but over a hundred with no guarantee after that. The Pale Blue batteries are rated for 1000+ charges, which the same thoughts into consideration, means that the Pale Blue batteries are set to last you 10X longer than the other rechargeable types. This to me is a big deal. I don’t like having to buy new batteries over and over again and with the Pale Blue batteries ( need more)  I won’t have to worry about replacements for a long time.

There are more enhancements than listed above but they weren’t comparable since they didn’t exist the other battery types. The charging cable for these is easier than any rechargeable system we have ever seen of any AA or AAA type. Each one has a micro USB plug on the side and the charging cable has 4 micro plugs to go into 4 batteries at any given time. While charging you are able to see a light display the amount of life left in the battery taking out the guesswork of the charge status. Rather than just knowing when they are at 100%, you can see the amount of the charge and decide if you need to pull it out early based on how charged it really is.

All said and done we do not see why to purchase anything else. The cost per battery life-cycle. The power output, the ease of use. There are plenty of reasons Pale Blue takes the powered cake.
