Rapid cold brew, too good to be true?
I’ve got Crohn’s disease and deal with acid reflux issues frequently, so I’ve been trying to find a way to keep drinking coffee without my stomach hating me for it that also doesn’t require me to go to a coffee shop for cold brew or iced coffee everyday. For a few months I bounced between options looking at various coffee machines with iced coffee capabilities because not only is it easier on my stomach but my fiancé lives on iced coffee in the summer time and i knew if the coffee machine could make cold brew i would have an easier time convincing her we should by a new coffee machine. This Ninja coffee maker was one of the ones I kept coming back to, so when we walked into Best buy one day to purchase a Tamagotchi my fiancé wanted and we stopped by the coffee machines and this one was on sale i had to snag it.
So after a few months here’s my thoughts.
Does the Rapid Cold Brew Actually Hold Up?
Honestly we were pretty skeptical at first because real cold brew takes 12–24 hours to steep, so the idea of having it in 10–15 minutes sounded like a scam. But it actually makes a really smooth, low acid cold brew that I can drink without instantly feeling terrible for the rest of the day. Not only that me and my fiancé agree it tastes much better than the stuff you steep for 12 hours and the fact that it is finished in 10 minutes means you can have a cold brew on your way to work without having to mess with anything the night before. It works so much better than we could have imagined.
Hot & Iced Coffee – Not Just a Cold Brew Machine
Even though the cold brew feature is what originally sold us, we’ve ended up using the hot setting just as much especially now that it’s getting colder outside. As much as hot coffee can upset my stomach sometimes, I honestly can’t resist a good warm cup, and sometimes there’s just nothing better.
This machine makes a really good cup of hot coffee, and one of my favorite things is that we don’t have to brew a whole carafe if we don’t want to. You can make a single cup, and there are eight different cup sizes to choose from. That means we can have just the amount we want, whenever we want it, without wasting coffee or letting a pot sit and burn. It’s super convenient and makes it way easier to enjoy coffee throughout the day without any fuss.
There is an iced setting but we haven’t used it as often as the cold brew setting because we just find the cold brew to taste better.
Design, Ease of Use & Daily Setup
One of the nicest things about this machine is how easy it is to use, there’s really not much too it at all you just pick your cup size and the brew type you want and press start and off it goes. No weird menu’s or anything to mess with just a straight forward and intuitive design.
Since this is the XL version of this coffee machine the Water reservoir is pretty big, which we are finding really nice, We only have to refill it once a week. It’s also super easy to keep clean since the reservoir and the brew basket are able to be removed from the machine and cleaned and filled at the sink which was another reason we wanted this model.
What We Don’t Love (Which Honestly Isn’t Much)
Normally I’d have a list of things I’d change or that i didn’t like about the machine but honestly neither of us could think of anything wrong with this coffee maker.
Final Thoughts — Would I Recommend It?
After using it daily for a few months, I can honestly say this coffee maker was worth it. The rapid cold brew is smooth and doesn’t wreck my stomach like regular hot coffee sometimes does. My fiancé still gets her iced coffee without having to leave the house, and we don’t have to prep cold brew 12 hours ahead of time anymore.
It’s easy to use, easy to clean, looks great and honestly hasn’t given us a single thing to complain about.
