If you haven’t heard of it, Kiinde is an all-in-one system for milk collection, storage, and feeding. The extra price might not be worth it for the casual pumper, but if you are pumping more than one or two bags a day, and especially if you are storing milk for later use, this system is a must. Many mothers even enjoy the benefits of the bottles for formula feeding.

Adapters

They make it possible to not only attach the Kiinde bags directly to nearly any breast pump, but also to just about any brand of nipple you might want to use. The only slight inconvenience is that you can only buy the full set, which includes two each of seven different styles of adapter, but at only $7 it is nice to have the option to test out different pumps and nipples in the future.

Bottles and Nipples

The bottle is basically just a handle for the bags. Since it will never actually touch the milk, you only need to have one or two on hand. The nipples come in slow, medium, or fast flow. The oval shape and Active-Latch design encourage a wider latch, making it easier to transition from breast to bottle and back. My favorite part is the one piece nipple, this is literally the only part of the bottle that you have to wash with each use.

Bags

They come in a standard 6-oz size as well as a larger 8-oz. Just like the rest of the system, they are made for ultimate convenience. They can stand on their own and they have twist-off lids for easy sealing and resealing. Because the bag can collapse as the baby feeds, there is no worry or air mixing with the milk causing gas and discomfort. They are single use only, but that is typical of milk storage bags and it only adds to the convenience. You can get a pack of 80 6-oz bags for only $25. For comparison, Lansinoh bags run $20 for 100. Just a slight difference in price is definitely worth it for all of the advantages of the Kiinde system.

Other Products

They sell storage racks for milk as well as bottle warmers, neither of which are necessary, but they are comparably priced with other similar products if you are in need of either. There is also an entire line of products for squeeze pouches for baby food, applesauce, etc either homemade or otherwise. Rather than a nipple, you just snap on the Foodii spout or spoon. Quick tip: they market the “Foodii Pouches” as a separate item from the “Twist Pouches” for milk, but the neck is the same size so the accessories are interchangeable. They are the same price, but the Foodii pouches only come in the 6-oz size and in packs of 20 or 40.

All of the different products can be purchased separately, but for the best price keep an eye out for starter sets and gift packs.
