Let’s start off with Step 1:
Before you can use a Bluetooth device you need to pair it. Pairing the Eksa GT1 was refreshingly seamless—within seconds, they were connected and ready to go. That kind of plug-and-play simplicity is always appreciated. Pairing a second device to it was easy and getting it to recognize a primary device didn’t require any tinkering. Step 1 turned out great.
Step 2 – Using the earbuds:
The G1 comes with 2 audio settings, music or games. These offer a small change to the audio tuning. While listening to music, the limitations became apparent. The sound profile leans heavily toward mids and highs, leaving the low-end feeling thin and underwhelming. Bass lovers might find themselves craving more depth and punch, especially for genres that rely on a strong low range. The gaming setting didn’t give me anything more to the music.
While listening to games it wasn’t quite as notable, probably due to the games I play not hitting those funky base lines like: My Name Is Mud from Primus.
Overall audio quality is still nice, but with the audio market is very competitive where innovations and enhancements are commonplace it doesn’t standout.
Step 3 – All the other extras:
The touch-sensitive controls are a double-edged sword. On one hand, they offer a wide array of functions—from play/pause to voice assistant activation—but on the other, they’re a bit too sensitive. Just adjusting the earbuds in my ear would often trigger an unintended command, so I would have to be careful on how I interacted with them. While the feature set is impressive, it’s almost too much. I found myself using only a handful of the touch gestures and forgetting the rest until I revisited the manual. Maybe I’m just a simple person with simple requests but I ended up just learning how to transition from music to games and play and pause the audio.
In short, the Eksa GT1 delivers on ease of use and connectivity, but falls short in audio richness and intuitive control. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly option with good functionality and don’t mind a lighter sound signature, it might still be worth considering. These are certainly priced for their specs. $20 at time of writing, I could easily recommend these to anybody and not feel guilty about it.
