Packaged in a very sturdy box, the eXtreme Portable Electric BBQ arrived without any complications or damage. Initially I was concerned with something like this in shipping but it is lighter than I would have initially guessed and packaged with very sturdy cardboard.

Power Requirements – Know Before You Grill
The first thing to know: this unit demands a serious power source. With its 240-watt requirement, it’s not something you can just plug into any old wall socket. If your setup doesn’t already include a compatible outlet, you’ll need to have one installed by a professional electrician. It’s a small upfront hassle, but one that unlocks the grill’s full potential.

The cable end is the 240V, which is different than the US connection we are used to.
Instant Heat – Lightning-Fast Warm-Up
The biggest difference I saw was the heat-up time. With Propane, I usually start it on high and walk away for 15-20 minutes while it gets ready and then come back and adjust the fuel amount from there. Not this one; The eXtreme BBQ went from zero to audible sizzling in roughly 90 seconds. The searing plates hit temperature so fast, you can easy start it and by the time the food hits the grill top you will be warm enough to start cooking.
Juicy Results – Chicken Legs, Hamburgers, and Hotdogs Done Right
I threw on a batch of chicken legs, something notorious for drying out in order to cook through. What I got was tender, juicy meat with a perfect outer char—no dried-out drumsticks, no uneven cook. The hamburger patties held their shape with zero curling at the edges, which made for an even sear and fantastic presentation. And let’s talk hotdogs: they came off the grill with that unmistakable caramelized flavor, perfectly browned without bursting open or losing all their juicy goodness.
By comparison I used a propane grill at the same time to see if my guests could tell the difference. The chicken legs were very comparable with random results on who liked which more. The patties and hotdogs on the other hand were gone from the eXtreme grill before any were taken from the propane plate just because of the look of them. These had similar results when asking people which people preferred.

Temp Control – Safety and Reliability Combined
While cooking you can set the internal temp of the grill or use the included thermometer. If the thermometer is plugged in you set internal temp of the meat. The system will shut off the heat when the desired internal\thermometer temp has been reached. The reason I mention safety is I’m not always the most attentive during outdoor parties. After the initial food was taken out, we added some bratwurst. That’s when I stepped away. . . . that’s when I forgot anything was being cooked and came back between an hour or two later. In a normal grill I would have expected to be picking charcoal off of the top. Not in the eXtreme grill; I had set this to 175°F and after the hour plus mark I came back and the casing hadn’t split and everything was cooked through.
Not having any burns, not being dry, not being a fire hazard, this is the safest, least wasteful grill I’ve ever used.

Temperature control is right on the front and easy to read and change.
Final Thoughts
The eXtreme Portable Electric BBQ delivers on its promise of power, precision, but it’s not entirely plug-and-play. The need for a 240-watt outlet is a technical barrier that might deter the casual griller. Once this is installed, it is a pure win. I can’t be the only one out there who has started a grill night and didn’t have enough to last, or tried to get a tank filled and been too late and not able to. Not having to deal with propane is huge for me, this is the next stage in outdoor cooking and I’m excited to see what else Crossray will develop next
If you’re serious about flavor, thrilled by fast performance, and want something that helps prevent you from burning your food, this is the grill for you. For me, it’s already earned a prime spot on my patio.
