We’re all busy, frankly we are all way to busy. According to a study in 2015 (the most recent I could find). After working and sleeping we have about 5 hours a day to take care of ourselves and our kids (if you happen to have them). That means for me, I have about an hour of time I don’t get to something I was supposed to.  The research shows that a little over 3 of those 5 hours people have, is spent with things like TV or other sedentary activities. Though I don’t watch a lot of TV, I do organize Magic the Gathering cards, work/play on my computer and those are me generally sitting for a long period of time.

At CES I was introduced to the Deskcise Pro – V9; at first glace I thought it was a cheap gimmick and a generic thoughtless exercise bike that someone welded a table too. At its core it’s almost true, but after a few weeks with this thing I really understand it.

This is the DESKCISE PRO™ V9

I had a previous exercise bike with the traditional handles, front 2 “wheels” that were hard to move and the back two legs were just stands. That bike has been rarely used because I never felt like I had time to just ride a bike. Since I have had the new bike I have gone over 50 miles and didn’t waste a moment.  I sort magic cards, work on my laptop, even sit at my desktop and put my mouse and keyboard on it.

So what makes it more than a cheap gimmick then? This bike is very well thought out. from the ease of the chair and table height to the engineering in the 4 wheels. the wheels make it very easy to move about and with all 4 fully rotating I can easily maneuver it. Whats makes them special though is the springs, when you sit down it pressures on 4 wheel locks. I tested this out on a tile floor and after sitting on it I couldn’t move it at all; simply got off and it was easily roll-able.

So is this bike everything you could ever hope for? In this case I can only say, Maybe. This bike doesn’t have a work out routine, or heart sensors like some of the similar priced products, the interface is simple and basic.

Toggles between speed, distance, calories, magnetic tension, etc.

Appropriately priced comparison with all the normal workout routine options.

As you can see the controls are minimal at best, but that’s not why anybody picks the Deskcise Pro V9. There are thousands of exercise bikes out there, but this one isn’t something else for me to do during the day, its something to sit on and move while I do what I was planning on doing anyway. With its seamless integration into my life so far, I can see myself using this more than I would use one with all the bells and whistles. So for the gym rats out there, you may not be satisfied with what it has, for those of you who who want a sturdy, seemingly well built smart choice for something to just get you moving without taking up extra time during your day, I think you found your new chair.
