XPG is at it again making memory modules better and better, I guess that’s what you’re supposed to do when you are branded as Xtreme Performance Gear. The current state of PC RAM is only in the DDR4 format but, we are on the verge of DDR5 taking over as the standard in the next few months. What does that mean for your PC RAM capabilities?

With DDR4, the standard speed is 2133 MT/s which at the time was something to behold. Now that we are getting to the end of life with DDR4 we are still seeing the numbers go up with the latest offering from G.SKILL hitting 5333 MT/s. This is higher than the default clock speed of DDR5 which is 4800 MT/s which has some people asking why we should be excited to move to the next generation of RAM.

XPG has managed to get their RAM to hit 8118 MT/s which if you are keeping track is nearly 4 times the speed of DDR4’s default speed. The reason to be exited is because DDR5 hasn’t even been launched to the consumer world yet, if we can get speeds 4X faster before the launch date, just imagine what speeds we will come to see through the life cycle of DDR5.
