Last year at CES we saw a new hair dryer from Dyson that promised to not damage hair while being quiet and energy efficient. This was something that seems small but the engineering behind it was quite fascinating and innovative.

This year we are watching someone else use similar technology on a smaller budget. Sometimes a smaller budget means smaller results, but here is what we expect before we get our hands on it.

Laifen is the manufacturer of the new dryer. Here are some of their highlights;

  • Intelligent Sensor: Intelligent Thermo Sensor Technology enables real-time temperature monitoring 100 times per second to offer a stable temperature to prevent heat damage to hair.
  • High-speed Air Multiplier Technology for Faster Drying: high-speed brushless motor dries hair in an average of just five minutes without damaging hair.
  • Alternating Temperatures: first to automatically alternate from hot to cold.
  • Cool Shot Setting: press the button to get cold air, and press longer to start the automatic 2- second alternating between hot and cold air.

This just got on the market earlier this month so we haven’t gotten our hands on it yet, but rest assured that after we do we will conduct an in-depth comparison between the two.
